- 1957 Deck Div,CIC,Navigator,I left SAUFLEY in DEC 58 for sub school.
- After that, I served in submarine billets
except for 3 yrs at PG school for a Masters in EE.
- From DEC 70 to Oct 72 I had command of
SALMON (SS573) out of San Diego.
- Went from there to NAVSEA but only 11
months later got orders to
- CTF77 staff (COMCARGRU 5) home ported out
of Subic Bay from 74 to 76 on five different carriers. We did the
rescue of the Mayaguez and the evacuation of Saigon.
- In Mar 76 I reported to PMA-263 at
NAVAIR for duty as the Deputy Project manager for TOMAHAWK.
- In 79 I was promoted to CAPTAIN and
became the project manager for sea launched cruise missiles in the
joint Air Force - Navy Cruise Missiles Project. I held several
jobs there in seven years -- including Director for Missile
Development and Director for Engine development for air, ground, and
sea launched cruise missiles for the Air Force and the Navy.
- I retired from there in 1983 having been
there for the first 98 flight tests and achieving IOC in both
fleets.
